Substitute Teachers

Medicine Hat Public School Division serves our current enrolment of over 7,000 students. Our Division offers a full spectrum of programs and services centered on students needs with sensitivity to community and parents needs. Our wide range of programs service children from 2 years of age to Grade 12. The Division is comprised of three high schools, three middle schools (including one with a Christian Education focus), 11 elementary schools, and a variety of Outreach Programs.

We are looking Substitute Teachers to work on a casual on call basis throughout our Division.

Qualifications: Must have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

a Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta EducationAs teaching professionals it is expected that substitute teachers will comply with the duties and responsibilities of teachers (Regulation 1004.6). In addition, substitute teachers shall:

1. Reach the assigned school fifteen minutes before the morning and afternoon assembly times.

2. Upon arrival at the school, report to the office to register and receive further instructions.

3. Assume the supervisory responsibilities of the absent teacher after the first half day of assignment.

4. Attend staff meetings if requested by the principal.

5. Leave a written statement for the absent teacher stating work accomplished.

6. Report to the office at the conclusion of their teaching day.

Rate of pay is $220.55 per day or $110.27 per half day.

A current criminal records check and Child and Family Services Intervention checks are a requirement of employment.
