Pay Band 7 ($3 412 to $4 128 bi-weekly)

The Subject Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and support the Director of Education Support Services and Directors of Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for the pedagogical components related to Newcomers and English Language Learners throughout ASD-N.

Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the successful applicant will be responsible for: Developing and submitting short-term and long-term goals and work plans pertaining to newcomers and English language learners.

Providing program leadership in ASD-N K-12 with respect to enhancing instructional practices used by tutors and teachers to engage English language learners.

Assisting administrators and educators in welcoming and supporting newcomers and English language learners.

Providing direct supervision and guidance to the ASD-N EAL team. This includes lead teachers, EAL tutors, EST-EAL teachers.

Working with newcomer and English language learner stakeholders, community partners and related organizations.

Identifying the professional learning requirements of educators, in collaboration with the district director team and other educational staff.

Coordinating with schools to facilitate language speaker support, exploratory visits, and parent meetings.

Coordinating the assessment and selection of instructional curricula, programs, supplementary materials, pilots and field tests, as it pertains to newcomers and English language learners.

Establishing and maintaining a collection of newcomer and English language learner curriculum materials and resources.

Representing the district in matters related to newcomers and English language learners.

Meeting regularly with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, other Subject Coordinators, and Administrators to discuss educational and support programs.

Maintaining awareness of issues and developments in supporting newcomers and English language learners through reading, workshops, conferences, and active membership in professional associations.

Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, including supporting the Director of Education Support Services and Directors of Schools.Qualifications and Experience:

The selected candidate for the above position will have: A valid New Brunswick Teachers Certificate V or VI. A Masters Degree is an asset.

Administrative/supervisor leadership experience as asset.

A minimum of five years successful teaching experience in the NB public school system.

A demonstrated knowledge, ability, skill, and competence to perform the required tasks in the specified area.

Effective administrative, organizational, and human relation skills.

Evidence of successful leadership.

Proven ability in providing quality education for students and improving student outcomes.

Organization and facilitation of professional learning and workshops.

Effective communication skills.
