DEFINITION: The School Psychologist I provides a broad range of professional psychological services, within an RTI model, in the public school system via the application of the science of psychology in the areas of student learning and behavior, assessment and evaluation, understanding the child and adolescent exceptionalities and psychological adjustment. Work includes but is not limited to: indirect intervention (consultation with teachers, administrators, other school personnel, outside agencies and parents in a collaborative problem solving process).

direct intervention (individual student psychological assessments, in service, individual counseling and skills teaching).

school-wide interventions (support of School Improvement Planning, coaching, consulting, school-wide screening).

District/system-wide intervention (support of systems improvement participation of preventions and crisis response programs and program evaluation).

Dissemination of current research. QUALIFICATIONS:

A Masters or Doctoral degree in Psychology with course work and experience to meet the requirements for licensed membership in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick. Successful completions of course work in child and adolescent development as well as child and adolescent exceptionalities are required. Experience in school psychology is desirable.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Licensed membership in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick.
