The 2024 Summer Numeracy/Literacy Learning Program is funded and supported by the Ministry of Education, through the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE). The program is a research-based initiative to support elementary school students (Grades 1-2) to maintain and/or increase their numeracy and literacy achievement levels. (Note: There will be a mandatory one-day orientation and training on Literacy and Mathematics resources to discuss the program and network with Colleagues. To take place during the first week of July, exact date TBD.) The primary focus is to support students in grades 1-2 to acquire the essential Ontario curriculum numeracy and literacy expectations and to sustain/increase individual pupil skill development. Teachers will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs for students using the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum, the Ontario Language Curriculum as well as the Ministry of Education resources. The ongoing focus is the development of the Fundamentals of Mathematics and Literacy. The program will run, subject to a minimum enrolment of 15 students per class, classes may be combined. There is an expectation of data collection and reporting as part of the CODE research project. The program will be delivered on-site and in-personTeachers are required to: Work with teachers to create learning goals for students
