We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

Team Manager, Planning

100% Regular

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week

$101,300 to $119,200 per annum (Union Exempt, Level 9)

Under the general direction of the General Manager of Planning, the Team Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of planning studies and recommendations, and supervises a team of planning professionals. The Team Manager maintains relationships with stakeholders such as housing officials and school community groups and assists with the preparation of budget documents.Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyzing all plans for new residential developments to determine their significance in terms of facility requirements;

Maintaining building permits and conducting field surveys of new residential construction;

Liaising with municipal, provincial and federal officials and land developers with respect to the implementation of ministerial directives, new subdivisions, etc. and other factors affecting facility requirements;

Preparing and presenting various reports for the Board on matters such as new school requirements, site requirements, impact of new subdivisions, boundary changes, etc.;

Assist the budget process by preparing budget documents, researching, report writing and analyzing data. Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in Planning or a related discipline and 6-8 years of progressive experience in planning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Member of Canadian Institute of Planners, or Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is considered an asset.

Experience in preparation and presentation of reports and proposals.

Knowledge of current planning software technologies; urban and school planning practices and processes and land/area reviews and studies.

Management skills required for supervising, directing and evaluating staff; demonstrates leadership in mentoring, coaching and motivating teams.

Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required when liaising and interacting with staff; establishing and maintaining relationships inside and outside of the district. Writing skills for writing reports and proposals; Ease in public speaking when making presentations to small or large groups, at public/community meetings.

Organizational skills, including time management techniques used for planning and organizing projects, and juggling multiple demands and deadlines;

High degree of tact and diplomacy for communications involving confidential and sensitive subject matter

Strong analytical skills for assessing proposals and recommending those, which would add the most value to the Board.
