OSSTF - Education Workers 1.0 Permanent Educational Assistant - West Region Flex

L ocation: West Region - Parry Sound and Surrounding Communities

Regional Flex Role: Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, this itinerant position, will involve providing direct support to high needs students in all areas of exceptionality moving into the region mid-year or transitioning from one program or setting to another. School placements will be determined by Special Education Coordinators and Principals. Valid Drivers License and reliable vehicle required.Qualifications: Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required: Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities

Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies including ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems, CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication

Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transition and/or implement programming in consultation with classroom teacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapists i.e. speech, sensory, occupational, physiotherapy

Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based teamRate of Pay: $23.44 to $28.18 per hour
