Summer Arts Programming (TOROS)

Invites applications for the following position:

Assistant Choreographer

Effective July 2, 2024 to August 12, 2024

(Hiring for this position is based on student enrollment)

Location: North Bay, West Ferris Secondary SchoolThe Assistant Choreographer will provide direct support to the Choreographer, Teacher Director and Teacher Producer in engaging youth in learning and developing skills to ensure the productions musical/theatrical routines run smoothly. The Assistant Choreographer will work directly with performers on dance compositions and movement. Responsibilities: Support the creation and setting of dance choreography as it reflects the vision of the director.

In depth understanding of the script and music.

Work closely with the choreographer, director and the musical director to achieve the overall vision of the show.

Work with the costume designer to make sure costumes are compatible for dancers.

Work closely with performers and volunteers to offer continuous feedback and support.?

Be available to attend information night, auditions, call-backs and all performance and final runs of the show.

Work with the teachers on staff to evaluate and assess student performance. Qualifications:

Previous experience as choreographer is considered an asset.

Experience as a dancer.?

Be able to generate creative ideas to turn into well-structured and interactive dance routines.

Experience developing and supervising youth programming (ages 12-17 years) considered an asset.

Experience in previous TOROS productions considered an asset.

Knowledge/Skills Required: Ability to multi-task and take on other duties as assigned.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Proven time management skills with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

First Aid and CPRC Training is considered an asset.

Rate of Pay: $2143 (100 hours @ $21.43 inclusive) A Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months) is required All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
