Learning Resource Teacher - Senior School - Full Time

Initial Appointment: September 2024 - March 2025, with potential to extend through June 2025

Brockton School is currently seeking a Learning Resource Teacher. This teacher will play an important role in supporting the diverse needs of Brockton Senior School students, while working collaboratively with parents, teachers, school administration, and external agencies.

The Learning Resource Teacher will be a member of the Student Services team in support of students with additional learning, social, and/or emotional needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting students in the classroom setting; developing, implementing, updating, and monitoring student Individual Education Plans (IEPs); and teaching small group lessons.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Places student needs at the centre of decision making

Brings different perspectives, voices, and worldviews to the classroom learning experience, including recognizing and supporting neurodivergence, and including those of Indigenous, local, and global populations

Promotes a safe and inclusive environment through strong relationship building and classroom management

Supports students in Support Block lessons as well as during whole-class instruction

Fosters a love of learning and an environment that that encourages all students to develop and fulfill their academic potential

Tracks growth and feedback through use of Individual Education Plans which includes student reflections and voice when targeting growth and development

Regular communication with parents and other stakeholders regarding student progress and wellbeing

Collaborates with classroom teachers and the Student Services team

Attends staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and serves on committees as required

Models behaviours, attitudes, and principals for students in all contexts

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and divisional PrincipalsQUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

BC Teacher Certification

Possess a Bachelors degree or higher qualification in education

Interest in being part of a dynamic and visionary IB school community

Experience in working with students with diverse needs

Experience and expertise in reading and interpreting psychological-educational reports

Experience and expertise in developing, updating, and implementing student IEPs

Excellent written and oral communication skills

High EQ skills, possess the ability to be self-aware

Strong problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills

The ability to work independently and as a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skillsExpectations include but are not limited to:
