The Before and After Care Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day organization and implementation of the before/after camp care program for all campers ages 4 15-year-olds. The Program Director will report to the Camp Director and maintains a high-quality program, supervision & engagement of the campers/staff.Specific Accountabilities: To plan and implement a program for campers before/after camp, aimed at engaging campers in fun, recreational and a variety of age-specific activities

Supervise children at all times, ensuring a safe environment

To maintain a positive and consistent approach towards child management, compatible with the philosophy of Appleby Camps

To communicate daily with parents/guardians in an open and supportive manner

To assist, supervise and guide camp instructors assigned to before/after are on a rotational basis.

Assist in creating weekly supervision staff schedule.

Respond to the individual needs of campers and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their families/caregivers

Ensure safe drop-off/pick- up of campers

Liaise with parents on matters concerning their children while maintaining confidentiality.

Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately. Ensure correct procedures are followed for administering first aid.

Report on a regular basis to Camp Director regarding issues of need and/or concern. Ensuring all Covid-19 Safety protocols and Government regulations are being followed

Post Camp Review Debrief after Summer is completed

Suggestions/Ideas for the following summer

Create Lessons Learned/Best practices documentation

Knowledge and Skills: Post-Secondary graduate/youth related field/recreation, Sport and Leisure, Child and Youth, or related field is preferred.

Relevant Program planning and facilitation experience in a large day care, camp or similar setting required.

Supervisory experience an asset

Strong skills & experience working with children ages 4 7 years, 7 15 years

Related work experience/teaching in camp or educational environments.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Creative program planning skills

Positive leadership skills

Ability to work effectively as a team member

Standard First Aid Training and CPR- C or higher required (certified on or after September 2018)

Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding is an assetWorkplace Requirements: Successful candidates must attend the required training sessions from Attend mandatory training June 3 5, 2022, June 18, 19, 2022

Part-time pre-camp prep work to be completed from December 2021 includes: Monthly Evening Meetings Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, April (Exact date/time TBD) and Individual homework

Leading program breakout sessions during Staff Training Weekends Friday June 3 5, & June 18 -19, 2022

As a condition of employment, a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening is required.

Position is responsible for supervising Before Care Program Hours: 7:30 am- 9:00 a.m., After Care 3:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
