We are seeking creative, dynamic, committed educational leaders to join the following initiative:

Registered Early Childhood Educator

Consistent Casual Overview Under the direction of the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator works in collaboration with the classroom teacher to provide high quality and effective play-based education to support enhanced learning and cognitive, emotional and social development for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students in a full-day Early Learning Program. The Early Childhood Educator leads an extended program - before and/or after-school - for OCDSB students at designated elementary schools, and works with the teacher in daily classroom activities with students.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have completed a two-year community college program in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent.

Registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators is required.

A minimum of one (1) year of child care experience is required.

Valid First Aid certification/CPR is required.

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check less than 6 months old is required for external to OCDSB candidates. Less than 5 years old is required for current OCDSB employees.

Immunization record is required for any candidates hired with the OCDSB after Sept 1, 2022 Skills and Abilities

A thorough understanding of early childhood development and knowledge of elementary school operations.

The successful candidate must have good communication skills in order to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and students.

Ability to use tact, discretion and good judgement.

The incumbent must have the ability to work with minimum supervision within a multicultural environment, and can respect and work with a diverse range of children and families of all backgrounds and abilities.

Demonstrates sensitivity to individual needs of children in a multi ethnic and multilingual environment.

Demonstrates initiative and creativity.

Has the ability to model healthy adult-child relationships and positive discipline.

Adapts well to changing demands.

As an effective team player, this position works collaboratively with teaching staff to achieve goals.

For some OCDSB schools, the position may be designated by the Employer as bilingual (English & French essential). Who can apply In accordance with the Student Support Personnel's Collective Agreement, O.S.S.T.F. District 25, and further to Articles 23.04 and 23:07 qualified regular part-time employees are eligible to increase their status and apply to part-time term vacancies if it does not interfere with their regular assignment, subject to Article 13:03; (i.e., 30 minutes between assignments or travel time, whichever is greater, without impact on current part-time hours of work). Regular full-time and Term full-time employees hired for the 23/24 school year are not eligible to apply for consistent casual vacancies Salary Expectations

$21.02 + 4% Vacation Pay per hour
