Summer School website: OCDSB 2024 SUMMER SCHOOL WEBSITEPROGRAM INFORMATIONThis summer, the OCDSB Continuing Education department will be offering a non-credit opportunity for OCDSB High School Students in ELD and ESL classes based on their recent arrival in Canada. Those students who cant access other summer learning opportunities because of language level or age are the priority.

Program Position: SAIL (Students Accelerating in Literacy) Program Coordinator/Lead Teacher

Program duration: July 4 - July 26, 2024

Program Location in July: Sir Robert Borden High School - 133 Greenbank Rd

SALARY: $48.79/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

1. Current and relevant classroom experience.

2. OCT Senior Qualification in English.

3. Additional OCT Senior Qualifications in Teaching English Language Learners and English as a Second Language.Anyone offered and accepting work within the program is afforded with protection through district policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of their work, including Health & Safety. Please note that your work within this non-credit program does not allow you to accrue Continuing Education seniority credits.

The Summer School SAIL Program Coordinator/Lead Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the planning of the SAIL program prior to the beginning of the program in July. The duties commence on the date of hire and include responsibilities before, during, and after the posted dates for the program. Duties include lesson planning, secure field trips and guest speakers to enhance the program, organize materials to be used during the session, oversee transportation for students, deliver the program: in person and assess student progress.

The SAIL Program Coordinator/Teacher will be paid for 120 hours of work that will be distributed between the date of hire and August.

The SAIL Program Coordinator/Teacher reports to the principal of Continuing Education and liaises with Continuing Education staff. Application Process

This position does not allow you to accrue Continuing Education seniority credits as per Article 40 of the Collective Agreement.

Experience and qualifications in Continuing Education Programs is considered an asset.The successful candidate will be appointed to a position for the term with an option, by mutual consent, of a one-term renewal.
