About Qualicum School District

JOB TITLE: Temporary Early Childhood Educator Under the supervision of the principal or designate, the early childhood educator leads before/after school care and works collaboratively with the kindergarten teacher in facilitating the seamless day for kindergarten and primary students.16.50 hours per week (over 3 days/week), 10 months per year, school days only.Commencing as soon as possible until May 30, 2024.Please be aware you must be able to travel during the day to multiple locations. REPORTING TO:

Directly reports to the Principal or designate ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

1. Create an environment that fosters the seamless transition between before/after school care and the kindergarten/primary classroom;

2. Plan, coordinate and lead a quality before/after school care program for students.

3. Assist in budget preparation and purchase and maintenance of supplies and materials.

4. Maintain daily, monthly and quarterly statistics and reports.

5. Attend district, community, regional and provincial meetings as requested.

6. Keep current on early learning and child care best practice by participating in job-related training and staff development.

7. Communicate positively and effectively, and interact as a collaborative and consultative team member.

8. Understand and act in accordance with school and district policies and procedures, district Health &Safety Manual and WorkSafe BC regulations.

9.Maintain confidentiality; and,

10. Performs other job-related duties.REQUIRED ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Grade 12 plus an early childhood education diploma including an emergency Child care first aid certificate.

2. Two years experience, obtained within the last three years, as an early childhood educator excluding experience acquired for your Licencing. Experience must include working in a licenced before/after school care program.

3. BC Early Childhood Educator Licence to Practice.

4. Experience creating, organizing, planning, implementing and budgeting for an early learning program.

5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team including district and school staff, parents, children, volunteers, professionals, and community members.

6. Effective communication skills in verbal, written and electronic format.

7. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

8. Physical ability to perform all aspects of the position; and
