Salary Range [$144,882 - $204,388]

Qualicum School District is seeking applications from committed and energetic individuals with a background of exemplary experience in K-12 public education to lead a portfolio assignment that will include oversight of the Human Resources department, ideally commencing August 1, 2024.

Centrally located on Vancouver Island on Coast Salish Territory within the territories of the Nanoose (Snaw'naw'as) First Nation and Qualicum First Nation, the Qualicum School District serves a population of approximately 4700 students and 750 staff. The region exemplifies the best of Vancouver Island living, with ideal coastal climate, ocean and forests close at hand, and desirable small-town lifestyle while still enjoying convenient city access.

The Potential Candidate

You are an experienced leader with extensive knowledge of the K-12 education sector with a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, or a related field. Your high energy, positive outlook, and proven expertise with leading a wide range of successful initiatives has provided you with the background to effectively resolve the complex issues that arise in this multi-faceted role. You have first-rate communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Culturally aware, sensitive and astute, you are cognizant of the issues affecting a diverse student population, including those specific to B.C.s Indigenous communities. Evidence of exemplary leadership experience, successful work in a district leadership portfolio, and knowledge of British Columbias Renewed Curriculum are all expected. Candidates who have broad and successful experience in human resources will be given top priority in this competition. Other experiences and skillsets in the K-12 sector will merit additional consideration.

The Position

As key member of the Districts senior leadership team, you will report directly to the Superintendent of Schools. You will work collaboratively to action the District Strategic Plan as it relates to your assigned portfolio. The specific portfolio assignment will include leadership of all aspects of human resources/labour relations, oversight of the districts Human Resources Department and, may also include responsibility for supervision of schools and their principals, designing professional learning opportunities, and working with staff to build capacity and improve student outcomes.

This position requires a valid BC Teacher Certificate and a Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation will be considered a preferred asset. Commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, the resulting positions senior staff title and accompanying compensation will be determined at the close of the competition.
