Peace River, ABHoly Family Catholic Regional Division is recruiting a 1.0 Division Faith and Indigenous Education Coordinator to commence duties for the 2024-25 school year. This position will be located in Peace River, AB central office and some travel may be required.
The ideal candidate will be:
Committed to leadership in Christ-centered educational values and beliefs in all aspects of the school divisions faith life with a commitment to Catholic parish life and personal witness
Committed to excellence, and continuous improvement, have effective communication and technology skills, and be a strong team player as an active part of the central office team serving seven (7) schools
Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills, ability to be flexible and work as a member of a collaborative team
Knowledgeability and/or fluency in Cree or Indigenous Language would be an asset
Training and experience as related to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Education, Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation
Culturally relevant understanding to support student achievement and educational outcomes and curriculum
Demonstrated excellence in their teaching practice
Demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude
Primary duties include:
Providing support to all aspects of the Religious Programming, First Nation, Metis, and Indigenous Programs as related to K-12 curriculum
Support teachers relevant to Teacher Quality Standards by applying foundational knowledge about First Nations, Metis, and Intuit in teaching and learning
Support schools and coordination of initiatives related to the division faith plan and Indigenous education plan
Have a strong understanding related to Alberta Education Guiding Documents including Alberta Expression of Reconciliation, United Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous Peoples, and the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Policy Framework
Promote faith and indigenous professional development of staff and students.
Organize district liturgical and cultural events, and liaise with parishes, dioceses, and First Nation communities
Coordinate, plan, and organize professional development, retreats, guest speakers, events, and presentations for staff, students, trustees, and division
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education, a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate, and a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, background in religious education, First Nation Metis, and Inuit education
Masters Degree (or willingness to enroll)
Valid drivers license
The position will include teacher salary as per the collective agreement and Division Coordinator allowance
