Applications are invited for the following position in School District #67 (Okanagan Skaha):

Speech Language Pathologist

Temporary Part Time (0.40 FTE) effective April 22, 2024 April 15, 2025, or the return of the incumbent.

This is a two day a week position. Initial assignment to Speech Language Pathology Program.

Reporting to the Director of Instruction Inclusive Education, this position will involve working collaboratively with school teams to assess and plan for the needs of students requiring SLP support, including providing direct instruction (individually, in the classroom, or in small groups as appropriate). The successful candidate will be able to work efficiently to provide service to schools across the district as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities: Screen and assess communication skills of students referred through the School Based Team

Assist with and support implementation of assistive communication tools and strategies with school staff

Provide education and resources to school staff and parents

Work collaboratively with school teams to develop individualized plans for students requiring SLP supports

Assist with providing social communication instruction with students

Coordinate with outside community agencies

Maintain student records, document assessments, progress notes and reportsNecessary qualifications include : Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology

Related experience, preferably in an educational environment

Eligibility for, and membership in the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of BC

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, and strong report writing skills

Experience in supporting children and youth with autism

Valid Drivers license and a personal vehicle for travel between schools. Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this part-time Speech Language Pathologist position ranges from $25,067 - $42,486, based on the teachers salary grid in the collective agreement, education, and experience.
