The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board invites internal applicants to apply for the position of PRINCIPAL for the SUMMER PROGRAMS 2024 July 2 29 (in addition to May and June Summer School meetings).

The successful candidate is a current principal or vice principal of a school who is an innovative and exemplary leader in our schools, able to demonstrate personal leadership resources and practices found in the Ontario Catholic School Level Leadership Framework, promote student achievement, lead professional learning communities, is dedicated to ensuring that all of our students are successful in achieving the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations and has responsibility for advancing the Boards vision of Achieving Excellence in Catholic Education: LEARN, LEAD, SERVE.

One Principal will be assigned to the Summer Programs (K-12), which will be delivered through face-to-face and E-Learning (with a blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning), and will report to the Superintendent of Learning and Student Success.Duties will include : Program planning with Summer Program Teachers in June;

Program planning for Summer School Special Education Supports in June

Preparation for the Summer Programs through E-Learning.

Staffing with the Principal of Continuing Education and Human Resource Services in May/June;

Supervision of staff at Summer School site closest to home, including face-to-face, e-Learning, Summer Learning, Special Education and Welding Camps;

Transportation (daily transportation and field trip excursions);

Student and Teacher schedules;

Investigating student profiles to develop individual program response prior to program start;

Monitoring attendance procedures;

Managing procedures for students with special needs, and students who are English Language Learners;

Coordinating the day-to-day program implementation, recreational activities, collection of research data and overall well-being of students;

Initiating a process to report to September receiving schools information on the success of participating summer learning students;

Support the purchase and delivery of resources;

Working with teachers to develop a program to meet student needs (considering curriculum expectations, learning goals, differentiated teaching strategies, summative assessments, success criteria, experiential learning opportunities);

Program planning (establishing timetable and routines that include nutritious snacks and physical activity) and support, on site, as required;

Ensuring communication and coordination with board literacy/numeracy experts;

Providing consistent contact with Regional Lead (MOE);

Considering program identity through naming and visible symbols;

Coordinating the availability of technology for added engagement for learning and communication;

Overseeing Health and Safety requirements and practices for the site;

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisory Officer.

Rate of Pay :

Principal -$7,265.23 (includes vacation and statutory holiday pay)

Requirements : Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers

Principal Course Part 1 (and Part 2 preferred)

Religious Education Part 1 AQ

Successful teaching in at least two (2) divisions

Demonstrated administrative and curriculum leadership experience

Successful completion of the Aspiring Leaders program with the Board

Experience preferred : Primary/Junior elementary teaching experience

Proof of recent professional development in Numeracy and Literacy including participation in Collaborative Inquiries

Sophisticated knowledge about the technical use of Edsembli

Ability to manage a school budget

Understanding of timetabling and school liaison procedures

Knowledge of mathematics curriculum and effective pedagogy

Must own a vehicle and be prepared to travel between school board locations

Must be available for two weeks after the Summer Programs conclude, as needed, to sign-off student reports and complete the file of student registers with approvals
