People Services Director for Wolf Creek Public Schools

Duties to commence August 19, 2024 Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) invites applications from experienced, dynamic, and progressive leaders for the position of People Services Director. As a member of the People Services team, the Director supports a variety of key portfolio areas that support the divisions overall priority areas of Quality Teaching, Supporting All Students, and Collective Responsibility.

Wolf Creek Public Schools serves approximately 7,500 students in 30 schools across the division and has an approximate 900-person workforce.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the People Services team in the following areas: Building leadership capacity throughout the organization in the area of Human Resources with particular emphasis on training, mentoring, and providing leadership development opportunities for administrators through the New Administrator Program.

Providing ongoing mentorship and support for new teachers through the Teacher Induction Program.

Providing ongoing mentorship and support for aspiring leaders through the Aspiring Leadership Program.

Participating in the selection process and panel for all school-based administrative positions.

Supporting the frameworks for supervision and evaluation of teachers & support staff.

Supporting the supervision and evaluation framework for school administrators.

Supporting the Assistant Superintendent with Workplace Investigations.

Providing instructional leadership expertise to administrators.

Ensuring the proper fiscal management of department budget allocations.

Demonstrating effective organizational skills resulting in compliance with all legal, Ministerial and Board mandates and timelines, and adherence to Superintendent directives.For more information on the roles and responsibilities of the People Services Director, please review the Role of Director- People Services .

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have an exemplary background as a school leader, including the following qualifications: Holds a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Holds a Master of Education Degree.

A minimum of ten years combined educational administrative experience at the school, divisional, and/or provincial level.

Exhibits excellent communication skills (both written and verbal and will be a leader who cultivates a progressive educational culture).

Has knowledge of current Education and Human Resources pedagogy.

Understands legislation, research issues and trends in education and human resources, particularly in rural Alberta.

Has working knowledge of Division policy and administrative procedures.

Is an honest and trustworthy leader who models personal and professional integrity and possesses exceptional people skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and unique schools and build trust at all levels through authentic relationships.
