Reporting directly to the Director of Indigenous Education and Reconciliation
Duties to commence August 28, 2024 and will continue for the remainder of the 2024/2025 school year
Primary work location will be in our three Ponoka sector schools, however some travel to other schools in Wolf Creek Public Schools will be required.
Roles & Responsibilities: Resources & Curriculum Acquiring, reviewing, and developing oral (in person), digital, and print resources and materials to assist teachers and administrators to support curricular outcomes relating to First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit history and culture.
Providing K-12 classroom level support across the district to help educators indigenize and identify appropriate cultural resources.
Supporting teachers to create differentiated instruction in accommodating the learning needs of Indigenous students in classrooms.
Providing teachers and administrators with professional development support related to the revised Alberta Education Teacher/Leadership Quality Standards.
Supporting planning of cultural events, presentations, and traditional ceremonies within schools across Wolf Creek.
Support Cree language integration within Ponoka sector schools and across the school division.

Support Cree language integration within Ponoka sector schools and across the school division. Other responsibilities will include: Active member of Indigenous Education & Reconciliation Team in Wolf Creek Public Schools
Attend Indigenous Education & Reconciliation Cohort Teacher Meetings.
Attend regular meetings with Elders and the Director of Indigenous Education & Reconciliation
Attend Wisdom & Guidance Committee meetings.
May contribute updates to school newsletter, school announcements and social media platforms
Collaboration with school leadership, teachers, and education services team.
Other duties as discussed with the Director of Indigenous Education and Reconciliation.
Qualifications and/or Assets: Bachelor of Education Degree.
Lived experience in Indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing.
Evidence of work and/or relationship with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous youth and/or Indigenous Community
Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
Evidence of ability to build strong, trusting relationships
Ability to be flexible within your role
Strong interpersonal skills with a strong student focus
