POSITION NOTES: Casual - On call

Hours vary from 20-35 hours per week.

Designated for schools with Meals Program.

TITLE: DISTRICT SCHOOL MEAL PROGRAM WORKER DEPARTMENT: All SchoolsREPORTS TO: Principal or DesignateSUMMARY:Under general supervision of the District Schools Meal Program Coordinator, The District Schools Meal Program worker prepares, delivers and serves food for the program. The District Schools Meal Program Worker works cooperatively with other staff and students. DUTIES: Prepares, portions, packages, delivers food to schools as required

Cleans kitchen appliances and utensils as needed

Restores kitchen appliances and utensils to cupboards, shelves and drawers

Unpacks and stores food and supplies

Occasionally trains and supervises student helpers

Presents a well groomed appearance.Performs other food service functions or emergent duties as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Three months of hotel/restaurant/catering food preparation experience or equivalent.

Ability to perform basic food services functions including good basic physical health.

British Columbia Food Safe certification and a comprehensive understanding of health safety standards relative to food services sanitation.

Knowledge of the SuperHost Program and front of the house operation would be an asset.

Valid Class 5 British Columbia drivers license.

Ability to use courtesy and tact in the explanation of and discussion of information in contacts with public, parents, staff and students.

Ability to perform individually and as part of a team.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally.

Ability to plan and schedule work and organize the workload effectively.

Ability to work with constant interruptions and to improvise as required.

Must enjoy working with appropriate school aged students.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDKitchen utensils, kitchen food handling and related equipment.PHYSICAL ABILITIES Sufficient vision to operate computer.

Fundamental ability to operate equipment

Manual dexterity.
