With minimal direction the Theatre Technician assumes responsibility for the technical management of events in Vanier Hall.DUTIES:
Represents the school/school district at events in Vanier Hall.
Communicates with venue users regarding specific requirements.
Sets up and controls distribution of tools, gaffer tape, cables, microphones, lights, gels and extension cords.
Ensures proper use and security of tools; gaffer tape, cables, microphones, lights, gels and extension cords.
Ensures proper safety procedures are followed when using the hydraulic lift portion of the stage and other equipment.
Oversees set-up of light and sound equipment for user groups.
Oversees the use of other equipment in the hall and/or school such as piano, tables, chairs, etc.
Ensures that equipment is in good working order and initiates orders for repairs as necessary.
Ensures that School District property is secured at the end of the event and performs last minute security check of the hall, dressing and green rooms.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS (Stage Manager)
Grade 12 plus three years experience in theater/concert production.
Knowledge of proper use of theatre equipment.
Ability to operate standard theatre equipment, lighting and sound equipment.
Ability to use courtesy and tact in the explanation and discussion of information in contacts with user groups, staff and the public.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform individually and as part of a team.
Ability to plan and schedule work and to organize the workload effectively.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
