School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert) is located within traditional Tsmsyen Territory on the beautiful north coast of B.C. and services the small communities of Hartley Bay and Port Edward in addition to the City of Prince Rupert. Currently we have one secondary school, one middle school, five elementary schools, one store-front site and one on reserve school (Hartley Bay, K-12). Our student population is approximately 2,000 students, 64% of which are aboriginal.

Our small community boasts an excellent recreation facility (ice arena, swimming pool and gymnasium), an 18-hole golf course, racquet centre, tennis court, museum and a 700-seat performing art centre.

School District No. 52 has the following opportunity:District Elementary Counsellor

Temporary, part-time (0.8 f.t.e) effective October 8th 2024, to January 8th 2025 or upon the return of the incumbent. Initial assignment to District Elementary Counsellor. This is a leave replacement. Necessary Qualification Include:

Masters degree in counselling

Recent, successful school counselling experience and/or training at the elementary, middle and/or secondary level;

Recent successful teaching experience and/or training at the elementary, middle and/or secondary level;

Willingness to offer a full range of counselling services;

Demonstrated ability to assist families to improve their childs success at school;

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and co-teach with other educators;

Willingness to take a leadership role on leadership initiative in the school.Note: Internal candidates currently enrolled in a diploma or masters program in counselling and committed to a timely program completion will be considered.
