PERMANENT FULL-TIME PLUMBER

We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform millwork, maintenance alternation and construction at the journeyperson level across the districts 53 facilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities.

Develops manual plans, sketches and drawings for the purpose of job layouts, permit applications, and estimating time and materials required to complete the work.

Provides technical advice and information to District staff as required.

Operates a district vehicle and maintains the vehicles plumbing equipment and materials inventory as necessary.

Performs other job related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.Required Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.); Two (2) years experience at a Journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.

Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.

Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills.

Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40-hour work week with an hourly wage of $38.59, plus a comprehensive benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
