Posting Overview:

The Purchasing Clerk will provide clerical support to the Purchasing team by completing procurement and risk mitigation activities.Qualifications/Experience:

Graduation from a one-year community college diploma is a minimum;

one year of experience in a purchasing environment is preferred.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge :

good organizational and clerical skills in order to process purchase orders; including creating, adding, printing, and amending purchase orders; as well as distribute, scanning, photocopy, and file purchase orders;

open, date stamp, sort and distribute incoming mail;

a good understanding of all procedures and functions of the Board's finance system to input requisitions and assist users with completion of purchase orders and requisitions;

understanding of risk mitigation documentation and identification of valid insurance certificates, WSIB clearances and surety bonds;

basic knowledge of the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive;

excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with vendors and staff via telephone and/or personal contact;

answer telephone, respond to enquiries if possible or direct caller appropriately;

working knowledge with Microsoft Suite of applications including MS Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook;

proficiency with Excel to create spreadsheets and maintain data;

proficiency with e-mail as a method of communication;

demonstrated team member to work effectively with all staff;

excellent organization and time management skills to meet deadlines;

assist with the preparation of RFX documents, vendor notifications, and training guides;

conduct small procurement bids and evaluate proposals;

assist with the disposition of surplus items in compliance with Board Procedures;

all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Purchasing. Position Effective Date & Length:

Permanent, 12 month, 35 hours/week

Level 2 - $22.00/hour - $23.29/hour
