Posting Overview: This is an internal/external posting. First preference will be given to qualified L.K.D.S.B. permanent Secondary teachers.

Reporting to the System Coordinator of Alternative and Continuing Education, the Summer Indigenous Outdoor Activities teacher will provide a Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities (PAD1O/2O/3O/4O) program employing traditional Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural activities. The program will take place in the Eelnaapewi Lahkewiit community. The teacher and program will be supported with Eelnaapewi Lahkewiit knowledge keepers as well as the Eelnaapewi Lahkewiit Education Department. Course activities will include shelter building, medicine walks, dip net building, dip net fishing, Lenape language, and Lenape football. Adult learners who are close relatives of enrolled students may also register for the program upon the approval of the System Coordinator. The program is conditional on sufficient enrollment. Qualifications/Experience:

Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification required;

Knowledge of and experience teaching various arts disciplines that explore or reflect FNMI perspectives, culture, and traditions preferred;

Knowledge of and experience teaching land based educational approaches preferred;

Knowledge of Eelnaapewi Lahkewiit and its geographical features an asset;

Experience working with Indigenous students an asset;Position Effective Date & Length - Duration & Schedule:July 3 to July 30, 2024, 5.5 hours/day, 4 hours of pre-course preparation time.

Rate: $57.01 per hour
