(Full-Time Permanent)The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for the position of Recruitment & Retention Specialist, within the Human Resource Services department at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.

The Avon Maitland District School Board is a full service, public, English school district in southwestern Ontario, bordering Lake Huron and covering the counties of Huron and Perth. Nestled in the heart of Southwest Ontario, Huron and Perth Counties are a study in contrasts. Lush, rural farmland and backcountry roads intersect with historic architecture, arts, culture, and the newest culinary trends.In the geographical center of this thriving region is Avon Maitlands Education Centre in Seaforth. The Boards Administrative Offices are located here, and they contain the central support for 31 elementary and 8 secondary schools, approximately 1600 teachers and 900 support staff. Additional information regarding the Board is available on the Boards website at https://www.amdsb.ca/.Reporting to the Senior Human Resource Services Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a full range of specialized recruitment and onboarding analysis and strategy services; designing, developing, executing and monitoring strategies to ensure the Boards talent brand aligns with the organizations brand while ensuring compliance with Board policies and procedures, collective agreements and legislative requirements.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Researches, visions, and leverages optimal recruitment approaches to enhance the Boards profile and build a sustainable and competitive advantage on the acquisition and retention of talent.This includes research on recruitment strategies, best practices and a broad range of candidate-sourcing channels;

Partners with the Communications department to develop and continuously monitor the effectiveness of messaging that promotes AMDSB as an employer of choice;

Negotiates and maintains relationships with Universities and Colleges across the province, including regular on-site presentations and seminars. Plans and leads the facilitation of recruitment events to attract high-caliber graduates;

Liaises with local agencies and community partners who work with equity-deserving clients to establish meaningful and sustainable relationships to attract and retain candidates;

Analyzes and maintains attrition and retention data and develops possible solutions to identified issues. Designs and implements exit and stay interviews to advise internal stakeholders on attrition and retention issues, trends and best practices;

Organizes and manages all aspects of the internal and external recruitment and selection process for non-union employee groups;

Oversees the external candidate interview process for all unionized employee groups by sourcing and selecting candidates for interview;

Consults with hiring managers on recruitment processes while ensuring compliance of governing agency regulations, legislation, system and contractual obligations and expectations;

Creates, facilitates and delivers training and professional development for managers, principals, supervisors and superintendents on selection, recruitment and retention processes;

Researches, develops and manages an all encompassing on-boarding and orientation process for new hires, to support employee retention;

Works in partnership with other members of the Human Resource Services Department to support changes in employee status and staff transitions;

Supports other duties or projects as required or assigned.

Education, Qualifications and Experience Minimum two (2) year post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent;

Minimum three (3) years of progressive human resources experience in a unionized and non- unionized working environment with experience related to recruitment, selection and onboarding;

Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze data;

Demonstrated proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications;

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;

Demonstrated integrity and credibility in dealing with confidential/sensitive information;

Problem-solving and planning skills with an ability to work independently.

Compensation Package Details Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (12 months per year)

Rate of Pay: $63,783-$74,276 in accordance with the Terms and conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees

Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)

Health & Dental Benefits: Extended and Supplementary Health, Paramedical Services, Dental, including Orthodontics, Out of Province/Country and Health Care Spending Account

Location: Seaforth, ON Upon completion of the probationary period, this job may participate in the Work from Home Program, which is a trial program implemented for the 2023-2024 school year. The WFH program is 1-2 days working from home as determined with the supervisor and with restrictions and parameters.This program may be extended beyond the 2023-2024 school year, at the sole discretion of our senior leadership team.
