Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a full-time (1.0 FTE) STEPS Teacher at Westboro Elementary. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and work closely with the other STEPS and PLACE teachers in the school.

Westboro Elementary serves approximately 245 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 18 teaching staff and 16 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to EIPS teachers who hold a continuous contract and meet the minimum requirements of the position The Steps to Enhance Personal Success (STEPS) Program is a specialized system program designed to meet the needs of students with severe to profound developmental disabilities. These students may have physical, sensory or behavioural challenges, or medical conditions requiring specialized accommodations. The focus of the program is to build functional communication skills that enhance the quality of life within a safe and structured learning environment, with regular routines and close supervision. Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
