Supports for Students is seeking an energetic, innovative educational leader who is able to work within a diverse team toward common goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be an outside the box thinker with the ability to effectively solve problems from multiple angles and perspectives and will be an independent worker who is capable of managing many roles and demands. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Supports, Supports for Students, this position will focus on supporting staff with their instructional practice in our French Immersion schools. The majority of support will be within our secondary schools; however, some support may be provided to our elementary French Immersion and French Second Language programs.

This position is open to internal and external candidates and is a one-year term with the possibility of extension. This position is a 10-month contract and follows the school calendar but may include additional work outside of this at the discretion of the Director. Submit a cover letter and resume.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to : Working as a member of the Instructional Supports (IS) team to provide support and services to school administrators, teachers and staff.

Supporting Secondary French Immersion schools, administrators and teachers by: using data analysis to identify areas for improvement for teachers and departments.

supporting pedagogy using multi-modal text, content, scope and sequencing.

supporting vertical alignment of skill and competency, scope and sequencing.

modeling and demonstrating research-based best practices and providing in-class coaching in French.

ensuring assessment practices are student-centered, collaborative and engaging.

supporting the use of technology as an educational tool. Supporting implementation of the Alberta curriculum by: working with others to ensure vertical alignment of processes and strategies.

working with others to identify and implement processes and structures. Providing reporting and data information, as requested.

Research and identification of potential common assessments/screeners to support French Language Instruction.

Demonstrating a commitment to learning, learning agility, innovation and creativity.

Collaborating with other EIPS departments and consultants.

This position will require travel to all areas of EIPS.This position emphasizes support and training for teachers as they develop knowledge and mastery of a variety of effective literacy and French Language Arts instructional practices in French Immersion Secondary schools. The Consultant will need to demonstrate thorough understanding and knowledge of curriculum, reporting, literacy and French Language Arts assessment practices.

Education and Experience: Alberta Permanent Teaching Certificate

Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in elementary French Immersion classrooms

Masters Degree or current enrollment in a Masters program is considered an assetKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes : Strong, independent worker, capable of managing many roles and demands

Proficient in a variety of technological platforms

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to support integrated service delivery

Bilingual in French and English
