Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools. Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting 2 part-time (0.7 FTE) Division 2 Teacher at Strathcona Christian Academy Elementary School. The teaching assignments are: Grade 4 homeroom teacher (0.766 FTE) and will involve teaching Language Arts, Science, Bible, Physical Education, Art, French and Technology modules.

Grade 5 homeroom teacher (0.745 FTE) and will involve teaching Language Arts, Physical Education, Mathematics, Bible, French, Art and Robotics. Strathcona Christian Academy Elementary serves approximately 580 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 26 teaching staff and 11 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Strathcona Christian Academy Elementary offers an Alternative Christian program with a mission to challenge students, through Christ-centred education, to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in order to pursue a life of godly character, personal and academic excellence, and service to others.

Alternative Christian schools within EIPS follow the regular provincial curricula interpreted from an Evangelical Christian Philosophy. Applicants should include relevant information about their Christian philosophy of education in their cover letter. A teacher in this program is expected to bring a Christian viewpoint to issues and topics from all curricular areas. Commencing August 27, 2024

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
