Supports for Students is seeking an energetic, innovative educational leader who can work within a diverse team toward common goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be an outside the box thinker with the ability to effectively solve problems from multiple angles and perspectives and will be an independent worker who can manage many roles and demands. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Supports, Supports for Students, this position provides support to EIPS staff and students.

This position is open to internal and external candidates and is a one-year term with the possibility of an extension. This is a 10-month position and follows the school calendar but may include additional work outside of this at the discretion of the Director. Submit a cover letter and resume.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Modelling and demonstrating research-based practices and providing in-class coaching and feedback to support integration of:

current best instructional practices and assessment for student centered, collaborative and engaging learning environments.

Teacher Quality Standard (TQS).

the new Alberta curriculum.

outcome based assessment for student-centered, collaborative and engaging learning environments.

literacy and numeracy in all instructional practices and content areas at the division 1 level.

elementary reporting practices including the elementary report card Communicating Student Learning.

the use of technology as an educational tool in literacy instruction.

Serving as a Division wide early learning (literacy and numeracy) support resource by facilitating best practices and learning opportunities for teachers, administrators and parents.

Demonstrating knowledge of current literacy and numeracy programs.

Utilizing data from STAR Reading and Math Assessments and other assessment tools to support instruction.

Providing reporting and data information as requested.

Keeping abreast of current research in the areas of early learning.

Demonstrating knowledge of elementary reporting practices.

Demonstrating a commitment to learning, learning agility, innovation and creativity.

Collaborating with other EIPS departments to ensure students needs are met effectively.This position emphasizes support and training for teachers and administrators as they develop knowledge and master a variety of effective early learning instructional practices at the elementary level.

As part of the Elementary Educational team, the Early Learning Consultant will demonstrate understanding and knowledge of curriculum, reporting, literacy and assessment practices. The successful candidate will support curriculum redesign and the transition toward conceptual understanding and competency-based assessment via effective professional learning facilitation and delivery.

This position will require travel to all areas of Elk Island Public Schools.

Education and Experience Alberta Permanent Teaching Certificate

Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience

Extensive experience and knowledge of literacy at the elementary level through all content areas

Masters Degree or current enrollment in a Masters program is considered an assetKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes Strong, independent worker, capable of managing many roles and demands

Proficient in a variety of technological platforms
