EIPS is recruiting 3 temporary part-time Quest Program Educational Assistants at Pine Street Elementary for Kinder Quest PALS/Kindergarten level.
Pine Street Elementary serves approximately 370 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 21 teaching staff and 19 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Applicant Elk Island Public Schools is looking for individuals to work as Educational Assistants in our Quest Program. Quest is a smaller group setting consisting of students who are 5-7 years old who are experiencing severe delays in communication and regulation. Educational Assistants (EAs) will work in the Quest program as part of multidisciplinary team. EAs will support the students in participating in the classroom activities along with supporting the implementation of Individual Program Plans for each student. EAs may be responsible for providing personal care for students depending on their particular needs.
Duties will include: Supporting instructional, regulation and social needs of students
Creating and maintaining professional and respectful relationships with a multidisciplinary team
Assisting students with skills in the areas of communication and language development
Being responsive to the individual regulation and behaviour needs of the students
Lifts, transfers, and personal care of students may be requiredEducation/Experience:
Candidates having the following qualifications would be considered an asset: training or experience working with students with disabilities
behaviour management training
courses related to working with students with special needs
experience and/or training with assistive technology for communication and learning
excellent interpersonal skills
the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher
the ability to provide personal care for students
Emergency First Aid and CPR
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education
Note: This position might require lifting and carrying demands that require the ability to bend at the waist, stoop, and twist frequently, the ability to lift between 10 to 50 lbs., the ability to carry, push and pull between 10 to 50 lbs., and the ability to stand, walk and sit frequently. The incumbent may be subject to the challenging behaviours of students.
