Long Term Occasional Teaching Position

1.0 FTE Special Education Resource Teacher (Intermediate, Grade 7 & 8) at St. Charles College

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board, a community recognized for innovation and a great northern lifestyle is centrally located in Northeastern Ontario, and is composed of a rich mix of urban, suburban, rural and wilderness environments.

These assignments are being posted subsequent to the posting and hiring process outlined in Article 17.1.3 The Hiring of Occasional Teachers to Long Term Assignments, found in the Central Terms of the Boards collective agreements with OECTA, which are found on the Boards website. The end date is subject to change, however , this assignment will not extend beyond the end of the current school year.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Current member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers

Qualifications in Intermediate Division

Additional qualifications in Special Education Part 1

Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives

Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written

Sound knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices, including the use of diagnostic assessments to inform teaching and learning

A commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner

Working knowledge of the IPRC process and the IEP, as they relate to planning and programming

Knowledge, experience and proven ability in utilizing differentiated instructional approaches within the classroom that support effective instruction and engage students

An ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic Education and integrating the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations throughout classroom practice

A willingness to participate in the schools ongoing literacy and numeracy initiatives

Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability and commitment to working with students, staff, and parents

Excellent time management and organizational skills
