With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking a Head of Asset Management & Renewal. This new position will have the overall responsibility to execute a large portfolio of projects, necessary for improving our built environments for the delivery of quality education to the students at the TCDSB. Asset Management & Renewal Department

Our department is responsible for the stewardship of millions of dollars of construction that supports student learning and promotes student success. Our goal is to provide safe, sustainable, and supportive environments for learning. We enhance learning and teaching environments for both students and staff at the TCDSB by upgrading the quality of all building systems and outdoor site conditions before they reach the end of their life cycles. Through the improvement of building systems and school sites, the Asset Management and Renewal Department plays a pivotal role in elevating the quality of educational spaces at Toronto Catholic District School Boards elementary and secondary schools.

Many of our staff are licensed members of Professional Engineers Ontario and qualified Project Managers who strive to use their professional knowledge and experience daily to successfully execute over a hundred projects annually. We share our diverse experience to continually improve our project outcomes. CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW: Minimum four (4) year university degree in Engineering or Business Science or a related field

Membership in Professional Engineering Ontario (PEO) or comparable

Minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience in a senior management role with a facility management organization

Proven knowledge and relevant experience related to school facility asset/component upgrades, renewal issues and energy management

Proven thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and public sector tendering procedures and policies, including relevant government codes and regulations

Proven ability to develop and direct large programs and their associated budgets

Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in project management best practices and extensive design and construction experience

Working with relational databases related to project management and asset management (eg. VFA)

Proven ability to provide leadership to multi-disciplinary groups including school communities, school administrators, senior staff, consultants, and others required for the project/program delivery

Expertise in budget planning, financial management and workforce management

Experience in developing policies, processes, and/or procedures to improve overall performance

Strong collaborative skills and a proven ability to manage and facilitate discussions, process reviews, workshops, or other similar meetings

Demonstrated verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, including presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability of communicating technical concepts to non- technical audiences at various levels

Excellent business analytical and management skills, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, and work well in a demanding environment to meet overall objectives and deliverable deadlines

Proven ability to respond successfully in high-pressure and high-stress situations to meet tight timelines

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting directly to and under the direction of the Superintendent of Capital Development, Asset Management & Renewal, the primary function of the position is to provide leadership to the $200+ million Renewal program consisting of several categories of mechanical, electrical, building envelope, interior and site projects. This position will build team consensus and strong internal relationships, while ensuring project management excellence and continuous improvements in project delivery. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the strategic direction, management, monitoring and oversight of the Renewal division, Renewal program and Renewal initiatives

Support the Superintendent in various executive functions

Liaise with the executive team, senior staff and Board of Trustees

Liaise with other Board departments and Board stakeholders, including school communities/administrators, and partner with Planning and Facilities staff, to deliver the Renewal program

Act as the Board representative and advocate, coordinate and attend meetings with the users, Board staff, project managers, consultants and others that will be involved in the program/project delivery

Oversee the planning, management, and program administrative duties of the Renewal department including developing goals/objectives, reporting and strategic planning of the renewal program

Track and monitor the overall program schedule and staffing resources

Track and monitor the overall program budget, including prepare program reports, budgets, budget forecasts, and cost/benefit analyses as required.

Manage, oversee, and evaluate the process and services of consultants and contractors on renewal projects

Evaluate progress against key performance indicators and assess opportunities and risks

Evaluate, develop, and implement continuous improvements to the project delivery model, operational policies, practices, and procedures, including development, oversight, and implementation of construction standards for schools

Direct, oversee, supervise, and evaluate of activities and performance of Renewal staff, including training and development

Perform other duties as assigned or required

NOTE: This position requires travelling to TCDSB sites, including construction sites, on regular basis. The incumbent must have their own vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario driver's license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement). Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment (PPE -safety shoes, hard hat, vest) for TCDSB construction sites. Diversity and Inclusion:
