JOB PURPOSE:

The Associate Teacher role provides a broad spectrum of opportunities to refine your teaching skills and gain a deep understanding of best practices in education. You'llhave the chance to develop your expertise in classroom management, collaboration, assessment, communication, and innovative technology integration.

As an Associate Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in our Schools academic program, working closely with students in the Junior School. Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers in the classroom, covering classes, supporting the co-curricular programming, supervising student activities, and various support roles related to teaching and learning.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES Assist in planning and delivering engaging curriculum in yourassigned classrooms

Infuse The York School's mission into allcurricularand co-curricularactivities, ensuring ourvalues shine through in everything we do

Work with smallgroups and individualstudents, providing guidance on classwork and projects

Embrace innovative teaching techniques and technology to enhance the learning experience

Create a positive, engaging teaching and learning environment through eective classroom management practices

Contribute to student co-curricularand athletic programs as a teacherleader, supervisor, orcoach

Be an active participant in faculty and otherschoolmeetings, contributing to the vibrant community ofeducators at The York SchoolQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: ABachelors degree, B.Ed. and membership in good standing with the Ontario College ofTeachers

Primary/Juniorqualifications required

Classroom experience an asset, eithervolunteering orteaching

Training and experience teaching the InternationalBaccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/orDiploma Programme (DP) considered an asset

Strong ability to work as part ofa collaborative team

Excellent written, verbaland interpersonalcommunication skills

Ability to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion

Strong organisationaland time management skills

Aproactive team playerwho is flexible and self-motivated with a Howcan Ihelp? attitude
