We are seeking an Innovation Lab Technician & Facilitator (ILTF) in our Senior and Middle School. A key member of the team, the ILTF will maintain the STEAM Studio, Innovation hubs and related equipment, fabrication machines, tools and supply of materials and coordinate with vendors as needed. The ILTF will be responsible for supporting teachers and students with the fulfillment of fabrication requirements (3D printing, laser cutting, textile art) needed in the curriculum. In addition to the fabrication support provided to educators, the ILTF will also be working on projects that showcase innovative uses of tools and materials, including but not limited to robotics, Arduino microcontrollers, and CNC routers.

Reporting to the Curricular Innovation Technology Coordinator (CITC), the successful candidate will assist in the development and delivery of curricular and co-curricular programs. This includes developing content to educate on the use of equipment and technologies.

The ideal candidate will enjoy designing and creating using the latest technologies to build their skills, which they are then excited to share with colleagues and students. The successful candidate will also assist the CITC in building capacity in our faculty, develop and facilitate maker workshops and research technologies and their potential applications in student projects, such as robotics, augmented reality, motion capture and projection mapping. In the interest of supporting students, the Technologist will facilitate co-curricular clubs in the areas of design, tool use and tool safety.

This is a full-time position throughout the academic year.

Candidate Profile:

Post-secondary training in New Media, Engineering, Technology or Software, or another relative program of study

3+ years of related experience with various technologies

Able to work in a high volume setting, ideally with youth and developing innovative programs within an educational fabrication lab would be considered an asset

Experience managing a large volume of student projects, which includes troubleshooting errors, providing design support, and overseeing fabrication

Familiar with Education Makerspaces

Able to reach Autodesk, Fusion 360, Laser Cutting, 3D printing, Adobe Illustrator, TinkerCad, and OnShape

An interest and excitement in exploring and learning new tools and software

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with a range of stakeholders (students/faculty/external stakeholders)

Exceptional time management and organization skills

Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently

A passion for girls education while leveraging technology to spark curiously and innovation in them
