With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking an Officer, Building Conditions. About the TCDSB Asset Management and Renewal Department Our department is responsible for the stewardship of millions of dollars of construction that supports student learning and promotes student success. Our goal is to provide safe, sustainable and supportive environments for learning. We enhance learning and teaching environments for both students and staff at the TCDSB by upgrading the quality of all building systems and outdoor site conditions before they reach the end of their life cycles. Through the improvement of building systems and school sites, the Asset Management and Renewal Department plays a pivotal role in elevating the quality of educational spaces at Toronto Catholic District School Boards elementary and secondary schools.

Many of our staff are licensed members of Professional Engineers Ontario and qualified Project Managers who strive to use their professional knowledge and experience daily to successfully execute over a hundred projects annually. We share our diverse experience in order to continually improve our project outcomes.CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS: Minimum two-year college diploma in Facility Management, Building Sciences, Architectural or Engineering Technology

Minimum of two (2) year of related experience in the building science, construction or facilities management field

Experience working with multiple stakeholders

Knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures would be an asset

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

Proficiency with a range of current software programs and applications such as MS Office

Knowledge of VFA or similar building condition database would be an asset

Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment would be an asset

Availability to work outside core office hours, as required MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to and under the direction of the Supervisor, Building Sciences, the primary function of the position is to assist in assessing the condition of TCDSB facilities and the delivery of asset renewal projects. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Providing support with the assessment of site conditions, the procurement of consultants and contractors and reviewing of contract documents

Preparing reports as required

Providing day-to-day guidance and supervision for the VFA Data Technician

Acting as back-up to the boards site representative on projects, tracking and monitoring project status including project financials

Accompanying Ministry Inspectors when they are auditing TCDSB facilities

Performing administrative tasks related to minor asset renewal projects and studies including monitoring project status and liaising with operations and maintenance staff

Assisting with regular condition assessments of TCDSB Facilities

Accessing and reviewing building data as required for use in the annual renewal plan

Assisting with the preparation of project budgets

Assisting in the review and prioritization of projects on the draft Renewal plan

Other duties as assigned

NOTE: This position requires travelling to TCDSB sites on regular basis. The incumbent must have their own vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario drivers license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement). Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment (safety shoes, hard hat) for TCDSB construction sites. The position may require call-out beyond regular work day/week schedule due to emergencies, or necessity to participate in a rotating call-out schedule. Diversity and Inclusion:
