The Opportunity

UTS recently moved back to its redeveloped home at 371 Bloor Street West. The redesigned site is located on the U of T campus and includes new science facilities. We are looking for a dynamic educator with Intermediate Science qualifications and Senior qualifications in Chemistry and ideally five (5) years of teaching experience, who thrives on the challenge of teaching bright, highly motivated students to join our Science Department.

This full-time (100% FTE) starts September, 2024. Applicants must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and ideally hold Honours Specialist Qualifications in Chemistry and/or the equivalent graduate or postgraduate qualifications in Chemistry. Applicants with a demonstrated ability to teach Chemistry at the intermediate through the Senior level, including Advanced Placement, will be considered for a permanent/continuing bargaining unit position.

If you have the requisite qualifications and experience to step into this role, then you may also be interested in considering taking on the position of Department Coordinator for the Science Department, with 1-section (20%) release time.

As Department Coordinator (DC) for the Science Department, you will take on the duties of a curricular, instructional and assessment leader and act as communications liaison between the department and the administration. You will guide conversations about teaching and learning in the Science Department to ensure evidence-based practices that support rigorous and innovative learning are implemented, and support a culture of healthy and open discussion about school issues, and serve as an advocate for the department while also facilitating the implementation of the schools decisions.
