Summer Camp Counsellor-Durham Forest 8 Week Position

This 8 week position is a counsellor position that supports the Summer Camp Director and the 2 Day Camp Instructors in the running of the Durham Forest Summer Day Camp in Uxbridge. This position is available to a Secondary School student with interests in Outdoor Environmental learning, outdoor education, and nature, land-based learning opportunities for campers that promote physical, emotional and social well being.

Camp begins July 2 and runs until August 23, 2024. Training days prior to start date depending on students availability.

Employment Requirements : Valid First-Aid certificate (proof req)

Must be registered in Secondary School for Sept (proof req)

Previous experience at Durham Forest an asset, but not necessary

Own transportation to and from Durham Forest daily

Previous experience with children in a positive summer setting an asset

Contribute and collaborate with Durham Forest staff to plan and program inquiry and land based activities to support students

Trail and building maintenance as needed

Job Responsibilities: Care, safety, and supervision of children aged 7-12

Teaching nature-based programming

Maintaining property and equipment

Work under and responsible to the Summer Camp Director and Camp Counsellors
