About the position:

We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic, and informed teacher to join our school family. The successful candidate will have the ability to use their combined knowledge and experience to support students with diverse needs in our Learning Strategies program. We are looking for a teacher who will work well as a part of a team to develop and implement competency-based Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Plans (SSPs) while caring for and supporting students emotional well-being and development. You will balance your time between IEP / SSP development, communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators, and working directly with students on their goals and coursework. King David is a young and growing school with approximately 260 students, about one-quarter of whom receive targeted support (including IEPs, SSPs, or other interventions).

The successful candidate will have a combination of background experience, education, and professional development related to working with students who have diverse learning needs, mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and/or medical issues. We are looking for candidates who truly want to use their passion to make a difference in the lives of our students. You must value diversity as it relates to all people, including aspects of identity, and have respect for indigenous traditions and ways of knowing. Requirements for the position:

Be certified to teach in British Columbia

Relevant Bachelors degree

Demonstrated competence in senior math and sciences

Background experience and/or education related to IEPs and the BC Ministry of Education Special Education policies and documentation requirements

A documented ability to teach students with diverse needs with kindness and flexibility to support their learning

An ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately with students, parents, teachers, and administrators

Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to teach them to others

A desire to always improve ones teaching practice and the learning experience for students
