PYP French and Learning Support TeacherPosition Purpose & Overview

St. Johns School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated PYP French and Learning Support Teacher to join our team of educators. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching French within the context of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework, as well as experience in providing learning support to students with diverse needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a vibrant community committed to excellence in education.Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver, and assess French language instruction in alignment with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum, ensuring that lessons are engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

Collaborate with PYP classroom teachers to integrate French language learning across the curriculum, fostering interdisciplinary connections and promoting a transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.

Provide differentiated support to students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring additional language support, by implementing effective instructional strategies and accommodations.

Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the Learning Support team, classroom teachers, and parents, as applicable.

Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for growth, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.

Maintain accurate records of student achievement, interventions, and accommodations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and protocols.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance pedagogical knowledge and skills related to language acquisition, inclusive education, and the IB PYP framework.

Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives, such as language immersion programs, cultural events, and community outreach activities.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to share information about student progress, learning goals, and support strategies, maintaining open lines of communication and partnership.

This role will require working hours outside of school office hours: often evening events; occasionally going offsite to document student programs; and occasional morning and weekend commitments.

Comprehensive benefits package.

Annual Salary ranges from $68,229 to $116,773 based on the schools teacher salary grid. Placement on the grid is assigned in accordance with the level of education and years of teaching experience. Annual salary is prorated based on the length of contract.Required Qualifications and Key Skills

Education & Work Experience

Bachelors degree in Education, French Language/Literature, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.

Teaching certification/license or equivalent qualification in primary education or French language teaching.

Demonstrated expertise in teaching French as an additional language, with a strong understanding of language acquisition theory and pedagogy.

Experience providing learning support to students with diverse needs, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with learning differences.

Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and pedagogical framework, particularly the PYP language policy and approaches to differentiation and inclusion.

Need to be legally entitled to work in Canada.

A Basic First Aid certificate is considered an asset.
