The Lax Kw'alaams Band is seeking a full-time experienced School Counsellor who will be an integral part of our school-based team. This position will provide direct social-emotional, academic and career-vocational counselling and consultation to students (elementary, secondary and adult), their families and supporting staff.The school provides employees with a competitive salary, moving assistance, full group health (including pension and life) and dental benefits. Fully furnished teacher housing is also available. Education, Experience and Knowledge: A Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Education Psychology or Counselling Psychology.

BC Teacher Certification and member of the Teacher Regulation Branch preferred

Teaching experience at the elementary or high school level is an asset.

Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and part of the School Based Team.

Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience in Trauma Informed Practice.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven record of professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, dependability, and reliability. Strong communication skills.

Highly motivated and able to work independently; must be able to schedule and prioritize work.

Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.

Able to deal with people sensitivity, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

Proven ability to establish open, trusting and respectful relationships with youth.

Experience working with First Nation children, adults and families.
