Working alongside others in the Wellness and Health and Safety department, the Coordinator, Human Resources is a key part of the team carrying out the department vision of being a trusted K-12 employer focused on employee well-being. As the Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety, you will use your strong analytical and data management skills to create insightful reports and tools related to our wellness and health and safety program.
Reporting to the Manager Employee Wellness, the Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety is a key person of influence in attendance support programming, wellness initiatives, and the health and safety management system. Your regular duties will involve analyzing large volumes of data available through our human resource information systems (SmartFindExpress (dispatch), PeopleSoft, and OurHealth and other data sources. Your sound knowledge of benchmarking and best practice related to attendance record administration will serve you well in preparing accurate employee absence reports. You will frequently use your exceptional communication skills, tact and discretion in your work with supervisors, union representatives and employees. You will conduct various leaves assessment and communication, coordinate meetings, set up online systems, and support global communication initiatives for the department including web-based information. You will through your well-rounded knowledge provide administrative and planning support for a range of proactive health and wellness events and initiatives throughout the year.
With your interest in data analysis and wellness promotion, you will work to improve the employee experience through understanding data. You will get to utilize your human resources, occupational health and safety/psychological safety, customer service, or project coordination experience to work towards continual improvement in this area.
Ideally, you hold a 2-year post-secondary certificate that is related to human resources, wellness, Health and Safety, behavioural economics, or change management and have experience working in Human Resources with a similar large, multi-unionized setting. Your advanced skills in Microsoft Office products and considerable experience working with databases is a requirement of this job which is heavily reliant on your ability to develop efficient systems to analyze and summarize large amounts of data.
Responsibilities Review and analyze wellness and health and safety related data to generate informative summaries
Create summaries of data that can be used to clearly communicate with internal stakeholders
Regular interaction with all union groups
Prepare written updates on programs to communicate to various levels of the organization
Plan meetings and professional development opportunities
Support incoming Wellness, and Health and Safety Helpdesk inquiries
Support the delivery of wellness and health and safety presentations
Identify opportunities for improvements related to areas of wellness and health and safety based on system data
Support the Wellness and health and safety team system audits
Coordinating wellness and health and safety programs
Maintaining accurate records related to initiatives and programs
Communication and promotion of wellness and health and safety
Support employee experience initiatives
Ordering accommodation equipment or supplies
Supporting leaves evaluation and communication
Supporting initiatives related to attendance support program implementation and maintenance including data analysis and program coordination
Run absence reports for all employee groups and prepares analytical data
Work as a team member in Employee Services Division on the Wellness and Health and Safety Team
Provide employee file updates and recommendations to Coordinator, Human Resources or Manager, Employee Wellness
Interact on a case-by-case basis with individual supervisors, managers and administrators
Backfills and supports peak periods of demands with the Coordinator, Health and Safety
Schedules meetings, coordinates catering and equipment/room set up
Other duties as assignedQualifications You hold a minimum of 2-year post-secondary certificate in a subject area related to supporting people including human resources, wellness, health and safety, behavioural economics or change management

Adaptable and able to shift in a dynamic workplaceLevel of Responsibility: The Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety contributes independently to the Wellness and Health and Safety team with minimal supervision. They possess a broad perspective on the employee experience and take responsibility and accountability for programs integrity and maintenance at a level that supports the department vision.
Decision-Making Authority: This position is expected to be self-directed and takes on independent initiatives in coordinating the related program initiatives. The Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety has decision-making authority within the planning and coordination of program initiatives. They will raise and escalate issues beyond their authority to the Manager- Employee Wellness.
Physical and Sensory Demands: The physical demands are typical of an administrative position operating within an open office environment. They include but are not limited to, sitting, standing, walking, preparing documents for distribution, going to other sites in the district, using a phone, taking handwritten notes, using a computer for most tasks and related office equipment, filing documents, and making copies. Periodically there is lifting and public speaking requirements.
Working Environment: The Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety works in an open office environment. They will be exposure to potentially emotionally charged experiences and/or interactions with employees who can be upset, frustrated, unstable, or unpredictable due to a variety of conditions or the context. The role involves minor physical or psychological safety risk and distress resulting from unavoidable exposure to difficult conversations. The Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety can expect normal workplace interpersonal relationships in line with our respectful workplace administrative procedure.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for the Coordinator, Wellness and Health and Safety is $74,454 - 87,593 plus a comprehensive benefits package, including, Municipal Pension Plan, Vancouver Employee Savings Plan, Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, Long Term Disability, Vacation, Gratuity, and potential Compensatory time.
