DISTRICT STUDENT ENGAGEMENT FACILITATOR (Temporary)
ONE POSITION FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH AN ASSIGNMENT AT HAPPY VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
32.5 HOURS PER WEEK.
QUALIFICATIONS AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION.
RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or related field
Minimum four years of experience working with children and youth, or in a social work, youth corrections or youth outreach role or related field
Current training and experience using strategies related to self-regulation, mental wellness and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI)
Extensive knowledge of strategies and approaches in working with students with behavioural, social and physical or mental health issues
Certification of SafeTalk
Valid First Aid Certificate an asset
Basic computer skills with ability to read and form emails, view word/excel documents, navigate internet and use web-based applications with the ability to perform work remotely
Valid British Columbia drivers licence and transportation to travel to various schools throughout the District as required SKILLS AND ABILITIES Clearly articulates thoughts and ideas and shares timely and relevant information openly, honestly and respectfully using oral, written and visual formats

RESPONSIBILITIES Supports student engagement with school
Supports goals, objectives and strategies as listed in a students Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Maintains confidential records of communication and actions as per district policies and regulations
Supports students through various transitions
Follows district work alone procedures
Follows policies and expectations as outlined by Sooke School District
Performs other related duties as time permits and/or assigned as required
