PLUMBER (Temporary)

ONE POSITION FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

FORTY HOURS PER WEEK.

QUALIFICATIONS AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION.

THE INCUMBENT OR UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Secondary school graduation preferred.

2. Holder of valid Plumbing certificate.

3. At least two years experience as a plumber.

4. Demonstrated supervisory ability.

5. Up to date knowledge of plumbing and heating codes, regulations and safety standards.

6. Ability to read blueprints and effectively lay out work.

7. Ability to get along well with other people.

8. Able to work well under adverse weather conditions.

9. Good health and sufficient strength to perform a variety of manual tasks.RESPONSIBLE TO : Facilities Supervisor or his designate.

SUPERVISES : Maintenance staff engaged in plumbing work.

JOB GOAL : To help maintain the district physical plant in a

condition of operating excellence so that full

use of it may be made at all times. May be

required to assist in an emergency backup capacity

in the oil burner field as required by the

Facilities Supervisor or his designate.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assumes primary responsibility for the repair and maintenance of potable water piping, drains, plumbing fixtures and similar plumbing installations in the facilities owned or operated by the district.

2. Supervises all plumbing repair work performed by district personnel.

3. Supervises maintenance of potable water lines, waste disposal systems, and similar plumbing-related installations.

4. Instructs maintenance workers on proper methods of procedure and proper use of tools in plumbing repair work.

5. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchases, and maintains the inventory of equipment, and supplies.

6. Estimates plumbing repair projects in terms of labour and material.

7. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.

8. Keeps in mind the safety of others including school children.

9. Ensures that the district complies with applicable by-laws and regulations.

10. Consults on all major renovations and new heating installations.

11. Performs other duties as required.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Twelve months a year.
