Permanent, Full-Time Start Date: Immediately Mulgrave is one of Canadas leading independent co-educational pre-K 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking applicants for the role of Facilities Assistant, to start immediately. The Facilities Assistant supports the Facilities Crew and Manager in maintaining the school building and grounds, handling maintenance, construction, custodial tasks, and groundskeeping. This role also collaborates with the Events department on setup and teardown duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following: Disarm the buildings and contact the security monitoring station if necessary Ensure that all office and common area appliances and HVAC equipment are clean and in normal working order Attend emergencies to maintain the health and safety of entrances, offices, foyers, classrooms, theatre, cafeteria, bathrooms, playgrounds, etc. Replace air filters in all air handling units, roof-top units and check for normal working order of fan motors and mixed air dampers in the mechanical rooms Take direction from the Events team to relate to set-up, tear-down and clean-up venues for school events and student exams as required. Receive and distribute deliveries and assemble new furniture and equipment Replace light bulbs, door locks, hinges and stoppers regularly Repair and relocate furniture, cabinetry, shelving and office equipment Pick-up and return theatre lighting and sound equipment rentals Assist the Facilities Manager to coordinate and supervise tradesmen work Coordinate the maintenance of the utility vehicles and school buses Program the irrigation system timer to water outdoor lawns and garden beds, and manually water indoor plants Assist during emergency evacuation drills Clean and maintain proper working order of roof gutters and downspouts Clear snow and de-ice entrances, sidewalks and stairs during the winter Qualifications and Requirements: Must be comfortable using powered tools such as: table saws, circular saws, grinders, drills, backpack blowers, etc. in a safe and effective manner Must possess a valid class 5 drivers licence with a class 4 being an asset Ability to climb ladders, work at elevated heights and confined spaces Flexible to work weekends and evenings around the requirements of the school Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques Ability to follow instructions, multitask, and meet deadlines Experience as a handyman or in a skilled trade is desired Mulgraves Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion In order to provide the best possible learning environment for our highly diverse, multicultural student population, Mulgrave actively seeks to recruit teachers from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in independent and international school faculties. Compensation The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $55,000 - $58,000. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
