MANDARIN TEACHER

Fulltime (1.0 FTE) temporary position

West Vancouver and Sentinel Secondary Schools

Effective September 3, 2024 until the return of the absent teacherThe annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience A fulltime (1.0 FTE) teaching position is available effective September 3, 2024 until the return of the absent teacher. The position includes: Mandarin 9-12 including IB SL/HL position on Day 2 at West Vancouver Secondary School and is Beginner Mandarin 11 , Mandarin 11 and Combined Mandarin 12 and AP Chinese Language at Sentinel Secondary School on Day 1. This posting replaces a teacher who is on leave. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: Appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching Mandarin.

Additional training/certification or experience teaching Mandarin IB considered an asset.

Post-secondary coursework and/or ELL instructional certification considered an asset.

Knowledgeable in the use of Proficiency Scales for assessment.

Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Core Competencies, Big Ideas, and Learning Standards for the appropriate curricular area.

Hold a valid BC Teaching certificate.

Commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology with the curriculum.

An ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all types of learners.

A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills.

A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
