Position: Intermediate LAT- numeracy support teacher

FTE: 1.0 Permanent

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor of Education or equivalent.

Experience teaching mathematics in a variety of grade levels;

Experience within the last two years implementing numeracy interventions in an elementary school setting;

Experience organizing and utilizing data to drive instruction and a whole school focus in mathematics;

Experience using First Peoples ways of Knowing, Doing and Being to support and instruct students;

Experience providing leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary school-based team regarding programing for students with diverse learning needs and behavioral challenges.

Experience providing instructional leadership to teachers;

Experience developing, implementing, and revising Individual Educational Plans and Learning Plans to maximize student potential.

Experience teaching Catholic education programs and experience integrating Catholic education throughout the curriculum;

NCI training would be an asset;

Experience working within the NME model would be an asset.DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

Ability to support social emotional learning, positive well-being, and restorative practices in the school setting;

Strong planning and organizational skills;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff, and the school community;

Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team and to participate in the total school programs and initiatives;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships and work with students, parents, staff members, consultants, and administrators;

Knowledge and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population;

A strong commitment to the practice of differentiated instruction, UDL, and assessment within the classroom to meet student needs;

Strong commitment to and proven dedication to support the philosophy, values, and beliefs of the school.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preference will be given to the candidate who is a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church, committed to excellence in Catholic Education. To receive preference, it is required to include a current Roman Catholic Pastoral Reference, current Teacher Faith Letter and current Baptismal Certificate.
