NOTICE OF NON-UNION VACANCY POSITION: Supervisor of Business Services

LOCATION: Catholic Education Centre

SALARY: $90,280 - $95,032The Supervisor of Business Services leads a team of three (3) people responsible for the effective and efficient operation of key financial functions of the Board including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grants and School Funds. The incumbent plays an integral part in the development and enhancement of internal control structures, ensuring the integrity of the school boards financial statements. With a service delivery and accountability focus, this position provides support in operational improvements and initiatives, driving continuous improvement while ensuring stakeholder needs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manager of Finance, the Supervisor of Business Services key responsibilities are as follows Supervises accounting staff, including training, coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of staff, as well as determining workload and resource allocation.

Supervises administration of cash disbursements for the school board including accounts payable, bursaries and treasury functions based on Board policy, Ministry requirements, tax and financial accounting rules to ensure that the cash disbursements are properly authorized and recorded correctly in financial records to protect the integrity of financial reports and controls.

Supervises administration of cash receipts for the school board including grant revenue, accounts receivable and fees collection based on Board policy, Ministry requirements, tax and financial accounting rules to ensure that the cash receipts are properly recorded correctly in financial records to protect the integrity of financial reports and controls.

Supervises the overall accounting for school budget and school generated funds based upon Board policy, Ministry requirements, tax and financial accounting rules to ensure the proper accounting of financial transactions and to support schools in the day-to-day financial operations.

Prepares reconciliations and journal entries and coordinates the monthly/annual accounting close process.

Provides leadership in the implementation of operational improvements and initiatives.

Liaises with school administrators, providing information regarding related inquiries.

Serves as the administrator and technical support liaison for the financial system (K212 Finance).

Performs other duties as assignedQualifications:

University Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance

Five (5) years of progressively responsible business and accounting management experience, preferably working in or with the public sector

Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of financial software applications (K212 Finance).

Advanced expertise with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Microsoft Excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong proficiency in financial accounting and financial control matters.

Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills.

Ability to work both independently and part of a team.

Demonstrated skill in motivating and developing staff, team-building, problem-solving and decision making.
