Educational Assistant - Special Needs

5.5 hours per day

Term to March 22, 2024 with the possibility of extension

Term positions start immediately with a completion date of March 22, 2024.

Winnipeg School Division is seeking applications from compassionate individuals who are eager to assist children, of all ages, in attaining their developmental and educational goals. This vital role within our schools will engage with the students and staff, display initiative in the classroom or outside of the classroom to ensure the responsibilities of their assignment are being met, and be an advocate for the overall well-being of the student, staff and the school itself.

Under the supervision and direction of the Principal and/or Teacher, the Educational Assistant is responsible for providing instructional assistance to individual or small groups of students who might have learning and/or behavioral difficulties; providing assistance to teachers in the delivery of programs for individual students, providing assistance with special events, supervising students during lunch hours, activities, recesses and other times as required, and administering first aid when needed. Other various duties might also be assigned.Qualifications:

Complete secondary education (High School) or equivalent related experience

Some previous experience working with students and children (experience working with children with social, academic, and/or behavioral difficulties is an asset)

Completion of an Educational Assistant Certificate/Diploma Program or education in a related field is an asset

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A knowledge and understanding of the related division policies and procedures preferred

Valid First Aid/CPR level C is required

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates is an asset as training will be provided How to apply:
