Let me tell you. It is okay to fail!Like many university graduates I did not get my first job on the first try. I prepared several different versions of my resum├® until I got one that started doing the trick for me. Similarly, my life and career are full of did not succeed in the first try stories. I bet you can look back and recall several moments where you did not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Nonetheless, you still made it to the end'a little bruised and worn out, but much wiser and stronger. It is really important to realize that it okay to fail. It is okay to not achieve your goals on your first attempt. But, it is not okay to not try again.Eight years ago a friend of mine graduated from the University of Toronto as a finance major with a 4.0 GPA. Still, he struggled to find a job in his desired field. After two years of struggle he decided to go to law school. He told me he loved the financial industry so much that he never imagined moving away from it. Years later, he is now a corporate lawyer in one of the biggest law firms in Atlantic Canada. Donald Trump once said, Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win.The whole point of this story is to re-enforce what you already know: persistence and hard work are bound to bring you success. This pain you are in is temporary, it may last a month, six months, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. In whatever struggle you might be in right now, I can bet at the end of it you will look back and be glad that it did not happen the first time.People tell me you succeeded overnight, but do you know how long that night was?
